Fight Productivity Block with your Bullet Journal

June 24, 2022 2 min read

Have you ever been in a situation where you're trying to be productive, and then a feeling of being blocked creeps up on you? You want to work on that project, but then… nothing. You can't think of anything to do, and it feels like your brain is just a blank slate.

You're not alone. We all have moments when we feel like we're stuck in a productivity rut.

There's no one-size-fits-all way to be productive. Some people like to doodle and brainstorm, while others prefer to write down their goals and get straight to work. But everyone can use a little extra help when it comes to fighting productivity blocks—and that's where your bullet journal comes in.

First, make sure you have a clear idea of what your goals are for the day or week ahead—and then write them down in your journal. This will help you stay focused on what needs to be done without getting overwhelmed by too many details at once.

Second, break up large tasks into smaller ones so they seem less intimidating than they might otherwise appear when looking at them all together in your journal.

Next, brainstorm ideas for how to overcome these barriers. What do you need more of (time, energy) or less of (workload) in order to be productive? How can you take action right away so that the next time this happens, things won't be as difficult?

Although the bullet journal can be used for many more things than just productivity, this blog was intended to show that it is possible to combat your productivity block with a simple notebook and pen. The key to using the bullet journal effectively is knowing when and how to structure your days so you are maximising your time spent working and you are getting the most out of each day.

Mary Jo Davis (@maryjokovarikdavis) sees art beyond the glitz and glamour.

For her, art is an avenue to express the depth of her emotions or better yet, her reality.
