If you’re a keen crafter or if you’re as obsessed with stationery as we are, you'll know what a washi tape is. You probably have a drawer full of washi tapes waiting to be used.
For the uninitiated, washi tapes or Japanese masking tapes are decorative tapes usually made of rice paper, which means you can stick and remove them from a page without damaging it!
They come in many different designs, sizes, and opacity. And, a word of warning, they are highly addictive!
But don’t just be a collector. :) Washi tapes have a multitude of uses. We particularly love using them on our bullet planners. You can really get creative with them. Here are some of our favorite ideas.
7 ways to use washi tapes on your bullet planners.
1. Page Borders
Most bullet planner pages are unlined and washi tapes really come in handy in creating page borders and margins. Skinnier washi tapes are also great for creating tables, and monthly and weekly spreads.2. Tabs and Section Dividers
A lot of ready-made planners and organizers come with tabs and section dividers, but for bullet planners, you get to make your own based on your style! You won't ever be limited by store-bought planner options.Stick a piece of washi tape on the corner of the pages you want to bookmark, such as the index or the key page. Fold to close, but make sure to leave a little excess space so it sticks out.
3. Graphs and Trackers
Bullet planners are great at tracking self-development. Graphs and charts, for instance, will help you evaluate your improvement at a glance and show you just how far you’ve come. Washi tapes happen to make very pretty bar graphs!4. Sub-Headings and Labels
Bullet planners’ un-templated pages mean you’re going to have to DIY all the labels—section headings, year, months, and days of the week. Washi tapes are great for that purpose. You can easily write on top of it, giving your labels a cute background, or you can choose washi tapes with labels printed on them. Pretty cool, isn’t it?5. Cover Up Mistakes
Mistakes happen. That’s why it helps to have correction tapes and correction liquids on hand. Do you know what else is great for covering up mistakes? You guessed it, washi tapes! Most washi tapes are pretty translucent so make sure to pick an opaque type.6. Frames for Artworks
If you plan to do a lot of painting or sketching on your bullet planner, you will want clean borders. Do that by creating a frame using washi tapes. A tip, make sure the pages of your bullet planner can accommodate the medium you are planning to use. No washi tape will save the page and keep it clean if the paper is not thick enough to handle paints to begin with.7. Decoration
Some people use washi tapes on their bullet planners because they look cute and they want their journals to be totally unique and personal. We totally get it! We are all about the kawaii life here. Go crazy!Washi tapes are a must-have for scrapbooking on your bullet planners, as well as for creating themed designs, especially to mark new seasons and holidays.
